the “One Breath” concept

The One Breath concept is a tool to systematically eradicate physical, psychological and emotional suffering that resides in the body caused by habit, addiction, situational stress, or past trauma. We do this by way of stretching and breathing into the areas of constricted discomfort in the physical body. These areas often contain an accumulation of darkness that reflect our unhealthy thoughts, behavior and experiences. Most of us routinely disregard and ignore this dark energy rather than give it our attention. It then manifests in the physical body by polluting and closing cells, and shows itself in various degrees of dis-ease producing further pain, creating weakness and inhibiting our natural intuitive alpha state.

The One Breath system of mind-body exercise is the most thorough and functional way to exercise. This stretching, strengthening, balancing and jumping all done by way of breathing a concentrated breath into the difficulty to dissolve it and make space for our true nature. This addresses all stress in the body and mind and the post trauma in the nervous system. The students ability to be impervious and resilient to suffering is continuously challenged while experiencing first hand the distinct difference between yoga and exercise…Breath! OBY pushes yoga to it’s limit! This produces the maximum amount of space in our bodies and minds for ease while pushing out the dis-ease. The practice being functional and resilient allows students to be more likely to remain in this space during their daily activity. This practice not only eradicates what we’ve accumulated by addressing and breathing directly into this darkness within us, but also prevents the accumulation of more.

This system de-emphasises theoretical knowledge and focuses more on the physical practice itself to effectively dissolve the pain. This space promotes mental, psychological and emotional ease, strength and resilience as well. Within this space we come in contact with our own personal truths and intuition. It’s where our hearts gain strength and our minds open to live life with more flow and contentment. This space promotes mental, psychological and emotional ease, strength and resilience. Within this space we come in contact with our own personal truths and intuition to the world we live in. It’s where our hearts gain strength and our minds open to live life with more flow and contentment. Done as a team or group this practice connects members on a deeper energetic level. Often able to communicate with less words.

Practice will always end with student sitting in stillness realizing their state of openness created.

For people who are using their bodies in a more demanding way than described above (Military, Police, Athletes, etc) it is still very important to do this practice to build and maintain a strong foundation of it. Always return home

My Daily Practice…

I throw down my mat feeling the weight of my world on my shoulders. I stand in mountain pose and close my eyes, I bring my hands to my heart reminding myself why I take the time to do this. I start my breathing. Slow full inhale, slow full exhale….repeat. Once I feel the oxygen reach my brain I begin to move with the full breathing. Sun salutes, I hate them. I’m now feeling all that I don’t like about having a body and think “what’s the point of doing all this? It’s so much work to have a body. I recall the comfort of drinking, eating and watching movies. The human body can run on it’s own just fine, I don’t need this yoga shit. I’m perfectly fine with my own little preoccupation.”

Ten minutes pass I become Okay with putting some effort into it. But I’m really starting to feel the magnitude of my, bad habits, attachments and irritability that has been so familiar to me. I feel the weight in my chest, brain and every 42 year old joint in my body. I keep breathing because I’ve been here before, many times, and I know how to move into and through it. I keep breathing! No matter how hard it is I WILL have a breakthrough today on my mat. 20 minutes in and my blood is warm, thin and saturated with oxygen. I remember now, I recall the reasons I’ve devoted a large part of my life to practicing and teaching yoga. Now I’m ready to practice Hatha Yoga.
